Round up of Everard's Teams performing in the cups for week ending 30th November by Mason Norton

It's a combination of cups this weekend, so let's get stuck in without further ado:

VEO Senior Cup Quarter-Finals:

Goals from Hamdi Barreh, Abdiwahid Muse and sub Kadir Fahie gave Leicester Atletico a 3-0 win at home to Sileby Town on Saturday to become the first team to book their semi-final berth, as Atletico's Senior Cup debut continues apace. Two other quarter-finals- Birstall United against FCV Grace Dieu and Heather St John at home to Coalville Town- will be played on Tuesday night, but Ingles against Khalsa, the other QF involving a LSL side, has been postponed owing to an ongoing disciplinary matter, with no new date yet fixed.

Westerby Group Saturday Intermediate Cup 3rd Round:

The holders are out, as Hinckley LRFC Development lost a humdinger of a game at Stoneygate 4-3, the County League Premiership high-fliers coming out on top with a winner five minutes from time. The other LSL side to exit the Intermediate Cup this weekend against County League opposition was Sileby Town Reserves, who were thumped 7-2 at home to County League Premiership leaders Houghton Rangers. It was therefore a case of 2-2 between the Senior League and the County League this weekend, as two LSL sides defeated County League opposition. Div1 leaders Lutterworth Athletic Reserves found themselves entangled in a 12-goal thriller at East Goscote United, Atho eventually winning 7-5, whilst Kirby Muxloe Reserves dodged the banana skin of Leicester Medics, winning 4-0 away at Knighton Park.

There were two all-LSL ties, but only one of them finished. Mountsorrel Amateurs took on St Patricks at Quorn, and it finished 2-2 in normal time, Jake Beaumont and Chris Yates scoring for Mountsorrel, Pats scorers not yet in. That took the tie towards penalties, with Mountsorrel winning 4-3 on spot-kicks. Loughborough Students Development at home to Dunton & Broughton United was abandoned after 55 minutes due to a floodlight issue, and that game has been referred to the County Competitions committee for consideration as to what will happen next.

Westerby Group Saturday Trophy 3rd Round:

LSL teams featured much better in the Saturday Trophy, with the only LSL side to exit at the hands of the County League opposition being Magna 73 Reserves, who lost 4-3 at Leicester Rangers. All in all, five LSL sides will be in the hat for the quarter-finals, four of them beating County League sides comfortably. Loughborough FC beat Community Football Academy Development 8-0, Kyle Adams with a hat-trick, Omari Simmons (2), Ashton Whiley (2) and Lewis Wall also scoring. Brookside Athletic also recorded an 8-0 win, hat-tricks from Leo Lightbown and Theo Baker, as well as sub Jack Allen and an OG seeing them past Woodhouse Imperial. It was a bit closer for Community Football Academy's first team, but Jaseem Khamkar (2) and Usamah Zerroug's goals were enough for a 3-1 win at Barlestone St Giles, and Glen Villa won 5-0 at Mountsorrel FC, George Parker hitting a hat-trick, Elvis was in the building as Elvis Nnamah scored and Cameron Greiff also scoring.

There was one all-LSL tie, Rothley Imperial beating Hinckley Borough 2-0, Connor Wills and sub Stephen Allen the scorers.

Everards Tiger League Cup 2nd Round:

Two of the three rearranged ties took place this weekend, and tie of the round was at Pasture Lane, as Hathern took on Anstey Town in the all-Premier tie. The visitors hadn't lost to Senior League opposition this season since their opening-day defeat at Ellistown, and based on the first 44 minutes, Anstey looked well-set to continue that run, as they dominated a Hathern side that was badly out of sorts, at sixes and sevens like the judges scores on Strictly Come Dancing, unable to clear their lines, with the Hathern attackers so redundant that they were in danger of signing on for Jobseeker's Allowance. Only Hathern keeper Dan Owen's saves kept Hathern vaguely respectable, and it was no surprise that Anstey took the lead just after the half hour after the Hathern centre-half was caught hesitating, letting in Josh Burniston who cooly finished.

Anstey's spurned chances then came back to haunt them when in the last minute of regulation time, Hathern striker Dolton Taylor finally had the ball in the box, the Anstey defender went in for the tackle rather than stand up and gave away the penalty, which Taylor converted on 45 minutes as he sent the keeper the wrong way. 1-1 at the break, and Hathern had a lifeline, which they took. The second half saw Hathern take control of the game, and they made Anstey pay when the ball through found Jack McLachlan who waited for the keeper to come out before squaring across to the arriving Kai Williams who came on as a sub at the break and buried the ball home on 65 minutes. Hathern had chances to finish it, but didn't take them, and then found themselves defending like the Alamo in the last 10 minutes, living very dangerously at the back indeed, but just holding on to win 2-1 and book their spot in the last eight.

The other tie was an all-Div1 tie at Nanpantan, where Loughborough Dynamo hosted Sutton Bonington. It was a tighter game than the scoreline suggests, but SB ran out of legs and Dynamo took full advantage, scoring three times in the last 10 minutes to win 6-2, Jasper Clarke with a hat-trick, Jamie Akiens, Christian Brannam and Will Burton also scoring for the hosts, Jack Tormey and Sam Martindale for Sutton Bonington. The only tie still outstanding is Ellistown at home to Mountsorrel Amateurs, pencilled in for 11 December.
