Basingstoke & District Saturday League Match Reports

Basingstoke United are top of the Division One table with their third win after beating Basingstoke Athletic 5-1. Tom Hartley had two in the net by the 25th minute, the first from a Gus Reis cross and a solo run through to beat keeper Luke Allison. Ash Pearce put away a penalty to cross over three up at the break. Hartley completed his hat trick by the 50th and it became -5-0 through Rees Chapman. Matt Stillwell did manage to pull a goal back for Athletic as they improved.

The top game was at Old Basing where D.C.U.K. are playing this season. Hook was the visitors and took a 9th minute lead when Andy Parker scored with a shot in off the post.

A flick on by Joe Harris led to Lorne Howard equalizing in the 25th but just before half time Sam Barker took a pass from Stuart Parker to restore the Hook lead. In the 55th Ben Nicholls took a pass from Johnnie Ervine to level and then he ran onto a lob forward from Jamie Ballantyne for a 3-2 advantage. With ten minutes left Pete Silvester put Dan Mouradian on a run and he finished well and although Silvester hit the bar for Hook and Nicholls an open goal, a 3-3 draw was a fair result.

It was a close game at Barlow’s Park where Tadley Calleva A entertained Bounty United. The result went Tadley’s way, them winning 4-3, the winner coming in the final minute from Stephen Aldridge. Andy Neal opened the scoring for Bounty with a low 20 yard shot in the 20th minute. In the 29th Kye Theodore was on the end of a long throw from Lee Champion to level, but Bounty came again, when after Ben Todd pulled down Adrian Biggins, Craig Williamson put away the spot kick. Early in the second half Theodore leveled thr scores, but a minute later Alex Izzo put away a cross from Biggins to regain the Bounty lead. In the 60th Stephen Aldridge equalized and having a lot of the play Tadley always looked likely to come up with the decider. It came almost on full timer when Jamie West flicked on for Aldridge to net.

Basingstoke Royals are fancied as potential champions, bu they came unstuck at Preston Candover where Twentyten defeated them 4-0. Inside a minute of the start Twentyten took the lead. Jack Clarke, some 45 yards from goal, caught the keeper off his line and the ball ended up with his stranded and the ball in the back of the net. They went 2-0 up in the 20th when Adam Elesgood scored following a James Arnold corner not cleared well. Royals dominated play without created a lot and the game continued with them on top until in the 80th minute they netted the third. Elesgood again the scorer, this time curling into the far corner from a Charlie Manning cross. With five minutes remaining the fourth came. Elesgood involved again, this time laying on the chance for Danny Vallance.

Division Two

Chris Dobbie was at it again, scoring five in the 12-1 win Herriard Sports did to top the Division Two table. Dobbie has now scored 17 goals in the three matches played, when last season he only netted sixteen throughout. It was Chineham they were playing on the all weather school pitch at Everest and they were completed outplayed. Sam Cato, who partnered Dobbie up front came up with four goals with Matt Goodman (2) and Alex Roberts completing the rout. The lone reply from Chineham came at 10-0 when Alex Copeman took a pass from Terry Collingbridge to beat the keeper.

Winkllebury Wizards had a close game against AFC Berg, but managed a 5-4 win in the end. Vincent Mundane and Liam Grainger combined to give George Lagden his chance for the opener and Lagden made it 2-0 against the run of play. In the 30th Joe Hodge pulled it back to 2-1 and in the 35th Ben Clarke equalized from a free kick. Ryan Watts played a one two with Mundane to give Wizards a 3-2 lead early in the second half and Lagden completed his hat trick by the 53rd. Wizards then went down to ten men as they had no substitutes and Berg cashed in to scoria again through Hodge and then Jay Greene curled one in off the post to level to 4-4. Jack Arthur saw his penalty kick go wide for Wizards, but he made amends when he scored the winner after good play by Josh Arthur and Ryan Watts.

Overton Unired B retains their unbeaten record with a 5-0 away win against Longdog Soldiers. Scotty Winterbourne had a hand in the opening goals, the first scored by Tom Green and the second a cool finish from Jamerl Rose. Logdog did hit the bar and Matt Morrison forced a good save, but it was their goalkeeper ???????? who kept them out until Liam Randall beat him in the 35th minute after a cross from Tita Martins and the final two goals were scored by Kathouba Kaba,one a deflection which ended any hopes of the newcomers coming back.
