Premier Division


We saw another interesting week of footballing action in the Premier Division this week with plenty of goals seen across the board. Denton Town were particularly strong this week, recording two wins, as they beat Greenalls PSO by one goal to nil thanks to a goal from Nehru McKenzie which they then followed up with a 3-6 win away at Crewe.

Crewe's other game this week came to an abrupt end due to injury. The fixture between Rudheath Social and the aforementioned Crewe was abandoned due to a serious injury. Rudheath won their weekend game away at Garswood by three goals to nil. Wythenshawe maintained their place at the top of the table despite dropping four points this week.

The league leaders were held to one goal apiece both at home to Congleton Vale and away at Garswood United. Linotype Cheadle Heath Nomads picked up four points this week by beating Styal (4-1) in midweek and then pulling away with a draw at Altrincham Reserves (2-2).

There is only one team yet to record a single point this season so far, Eagle Sports. This week was no different as they lost 6-1 at the hands of Malpas and 3-2 at home to Rylands. This was Rylands' first 3-2 win out of two this week. The other coming away at Whaley Bridge thanks to goals from Ball, Bell and Latham. Whaley Bridge also found themsleves on the wrong end of a 6 goal thriller, losing 4-2 to local rivals Poynton.

Knutsford failed to capitalise on Wythenshawe's dropped points this week and instead dropped points themselves against Altrincham Reserves in a 1-1 draw. The one other game this week saw Styal beat Greenalls PSO.


League One

This week in League One opened with 6 goals at West Didsbury and Chorlton Reserves as the home side fell victim to a 4-2 loss to Egerton. Mersey Valley picked up all three points at home to Grappenhall Sports with a 3-0 win thanks to goals from Kyle Denton, substitute James Liversedge and Dwayne Greenwood. Halebank weren't as lucky in their home game on Tuesday night as it was them that were on the receiving end of a 3-0 loss to FC St Helens.

Lostock Gralam and Daten both took 3-2 victories in midweek against Middlewich and Pilkington respectively. Tuesday's final game saw league leaders Billinge come out victorious in a 4-1 win over Golborne Sports. Wednesday's other two games saw AFC Macclesfield beat Cheadle Town Reserves 3-0 through goals by Bowey, Mathers and Murray, and Warrington Town Reserves defeated Tarporley Victoria 2-1 at home.

The weekend fixtures saw another loss for Cheadle Town Reserves who couldn't prevent a 3-1 loss to Daten.

Golborne Sports gave Tarporley Victoria their second loss of the week, a close-fought 3-2 victory which leaves the home side in fourth place after six games. Billinge cemented their place at the table's summit with their fifth win of the season as they defeated Lostock Gralam to put themselves on 15 points. Mersey Valley are close behind with 13 points following their 2-0 victory at home to Egerton. Middlewich and St Helens came out level in a 2-2 draw, a result which surprised a few following Middlewich's poor form as of late. West Didsbury and Chorlton Reserves came out ahead in a 5 goal thriller at Pilkington.

League Two

Monday Night Football returned to League Two this week as Maine Road took on Unicorn Athletic in what was a close-fought affair. Maine Road Reserves came out with a shock win as they edged a 3-2 victory over favourites Unicorn Athletic.

Sandbach Reserves took all three points from their home game with Cuddington thanks to goals from Bettley and Bostock. Orford defeated Barnton Reserves 2-1 to give themselves their first win of the new campaign. The only goalless draw came at Deva Christleson as they shared the spoils with Windle Labour.

Broadheath gave AFC Denton their second loss in as many games with a 4-2 win over the Tameside locals. Barnton Reserves suffered yet another defeat at the hands of Winstanely Warriors, losing 4-2. Windle Labour took all three points at home to Ford Motors by winning two goals to nil.

Unicorn Athletic thrashed Moore United 6-1 thanks to goals from Aldred, Hendley, Stewart and a hat-trick from Mike Howarth. However, despite the high scoreline, this wasn't game of the day. That goes to Orford v Sandbach Reserves which finished 7-3 to the home side.

AFC Denton recorded yet another defeat away at Cuddington, losing 3-2 on the day. The final game of the weekend saw Deva Christleson win 2-1 away at Broadheath Central.
