Hook won through to the Final of the Basingstoke A Cup after winning a fiery Semi Final at Brighton Hill by beating Rising Sun DC 6-2.

The sending off of Richard Kalwarcyk in the 35th minute for alleged punching Peter Pike had a big bearing on this math in which Referee Mick Walsh issued six yellow cards, four for Rising Sun, as well as the one red for the key Rising Sun midfielder. It was Hook taking a fifth minute lead through Pete Silvester from a Tom Davies assist but Rising Sun leveled with a Joe Harris free kick and then Harris converted a penalty kick for a 2-1 lead by the 20th. Off went Kalwarcyk and by the break Silvester had completed his hat trick to see Hook leading 3-2. Tom Davies made it 4-2 from a penalty kick and further goals from Andy Parker and Phil Haig saw Hook run off clear winners in the end. They will meet the winners of the other Semi Finals between Tadley Calleva A and Basingstoke Royals in the Final. Tadley A won through to the Semi Finals after beating Division One DCS Telecoms 3-1 at Silchester. It was Danny Stafford’s team going in front after ten minutes when Ian McFee followed up to net after the keeper mishandled a free kick taken by Lee Neal. The lead did not last long for Stephen (Stumpy) Burgess had the ball in the net twice before the break and in the second half scored his third from a penalty, conceded by Chris Hobson.

Twenten are through to the Quarter Finals of the Peter Raynbird Cup after beating North Warnborough 9-1 and will now move into the Quarter Finals where they will play Sherborne St John. Manager Alan Spacagna was proud to say his starting lineup were all under 19 years olds and in a devastating first half they built up an 8-1 lead. Joe Hill netted the first three goals and Carl Pearson added a fourth before Borough replied through Lex Burns. Jordon Wainwright, Joe Osborne and Adam Elesgood moved it to 7-1 and Pearson netted his second. Veterans Spacagna and Neil Pearson came on in the second half to increase the age gap and it was not until the 80th minute when Hill scored his fourth.

In the Premier Division the leaders Basingstoke Royals won 22-0 against struggling Welly Old Boys at Newfound. It was eight goals for Steven Price, five for Nick Willcock, James Gilham (4), James McIntosh (2), Richard Wilcock (1) and two og’s.
It was a closer affair at Sherborne St John where Trevor Livingstone’s side won the local derby 5-2. Bramley had a goalkeeper problem with full back Tim Barnett taking the gloves. Alex Izzo beat him with a 25 yard lob, Ibrahim Waheed made it two and the home side lead 3-0 by the 35th when Izzo scored again when Dec Shuttleworth played him through. Bramley came back with neat goal from Josh Arthur, but a penalty taken by Shuttleworth saw “Saints” leading 4-1 at the break. Bramley were better after the break and Sam Cato scored their second from a cross from Aaron Burt and although always looking like scoring again, they were caught on the break with a minute to go and Ash Pirie scored the fifth.

There was just the one game in Division One , at Brighton Hill where Hook Reserves were visitors and the 3- 0 win for Hampshire Irons takes them into second place, six points behind leaders Overton United A with a game in hand . They have already beaten them twice this season and the extra “third” match could be a title decider. They had to wait until the 43rd minute to open their account through Jay Greene and in a strong come back Dave Mohammad forced two good saves from keeper Jack Rickard and Charlie Page went close. However with seven left James Arnold made 2-0 and added another to make sure of the points three minutes from time..

In Division Two the top of the table clash between Bounty United and Basingstoke Athletic resulted in a 4-3 win to Athletic. This match was transferred to Brighton Hill and Athletic took a two goal early lead. Matt Button scored the opener after ten minutes from a Dale Bristow assist and Dave Trevelion soon scored the second. Matt Love took a pass from Jordon Willis to reduce the arrears with a 25 yard lob. Athletic came strongly out of the blocks after the break and established a 4-1 lead when first Bristow was set up by Nathan Read and Trevelion scored again. The Bounty come back came in the 70th when Mike Gilham floated in a free kick and Brad Neal scrambled it into the net and when Craig Williamson put away a penalty kick nine minutes from time, it looked they might salvage a point, but the strong Athletic back four held firm for the remainder of the game. Herriard Sports suffered a shock when meeting AFC Berg, losing 8-0 to them. Before this game Berg has not won a league game all season and had picked up two points from the previous eleven matches and the three points has lifted them off the bottom of the table. John Hamill did not have a good day in the Herriard goal and he was beaten in the 6th minute when Kevin Beaumont scored from a corner kick and two more soon followed via Kieran Allane and Shane West for a 3-0 interval score line. The newly signed Richard McCoubrie then came into his own, scoring from a penalty kick and after Richard Ellie put through his own goal, McCoubrie went on to beat Hamill three more times. It was certainly not Herriard’s day, for they were unable to score when given a penalty, Craig Hind hitting he crossbar. There was also a surprise at Berrydown where Overton United B, who last won back in November, held unbeaten Winklebury Wizards to a 1-1 draw. It was right on half time when Overton broke the deadlock. A flick on by Adam Bowden gave Hayden Chalker the chance, his first effort was blocked by the keeper, but he followed up to net the rebound. Wizards looked much better after the break with good efforts from Matt Lowe, Ryan Watts and Louis Clayton and in the 60th the equalizer came. A long throw from Alex Stevens fell to Matt Lowe who netted with a 20 yard shot. Wizards had a player sent off with 20 minutes to go and the game petered out as Overton also went down to ten men through injury and all subs used. Following four straight defeats, Preston Candover came good against Basingstoke United, winning a close contest 2-1. Joe Tomlinson brought down Dan Trump in the 30th minute and Trump put away the resulting spot kick for the Preston lead. It was in the 70th minute when Tom Hartley put United level, but soon after this they had Ashley Williams sent off. Kyle Buckland then regained the lead and it proved the winner. Sherborne St John Reserves sink to the bottom of the table after losing 6-1 to AFC Aldermaston A. with Kevin Flain 2. Jon Rooney 2. Mark James and Andy Barfoot a goal each with Sherborne goal came from Ben Harman.
