It is Overton United FC ‘B’ who head the Division Two table after following up their 7-2 win in the opening game with a 1-0 win over Hook FC Reserves at Berrydown. Kyle Buckland missed a couple of chances for Overton early on, and along with Matt Aslett, he gave the Hook keeper plenty to do in the first half. It was a close opening half, with Kyle Peart and Jack McKee both going close for the visitors. Fitness began to tell after the break and after Liam Randall missed a good chance to put Overton ahead, they eventually took the lead in the 78th minute. Mark Beagley was penalized for a push in the box and Mattt Aslett put away the spot kick. Hook did have a chance to level in the 83rd when McKee was put through on goal, but his lob went over the bar.

Winklebury Wizards FC are off the mark with a 1-0 win in their first encounter of the season. It was against AFC Berg. In a goal less first half Wizards were unlucky when they hit the post twice. In the 20th minute a quick throw from Dan Scott found Dan Costen, a one two with Scott Large led to the chance for Scott Winterbourne; his shot looked good until it hit the inside of the post. Just four minutes later, a corner by Adam Tipping was half cleared, it fell to Scott Large and his effort hit the other post and rebounded clear. Only a goal line clearance by Alex Stevens stopped Berg leading at half time but it was all Wizards in the second half. In the 72nd minute Wizards took the lead. It came from a well placed corner kick taken by Dan Goodyear and fell to Dean Scott who made no mistake with his finish.

Basingstoke United FC had a field day against Basingstoke Athletic FC Reserves, beating them 7-0 in this one sided affair. They went in front after just two minutes when Joe Cook found the bottom corner to beat keeper Luke Allison. Athletic held them until the 30th minute when Jamie Lucas had a tap in following a good cross from Gus Reis. It was the Tom Hartley show in the second half as United began a goal rout. Hartley scored a straight hat trick, his second from a Callum Silcox assist and the third the best of the three with a great finish from range. A corner from Hartley led to substitute Ashley Pearce making it 6-0. The final goal, saw a Hartley free kick headed in by Reis at the far post.

It was an entertaining game at Aldermaston where Herriard Sports FC managed a 3-2 win against AFC Aldermaston “A”. Herriard could have been five up at the break if it was not for some excellent goal keeping work from Dan Nocella. A good pass from Sam Weber in the 20th minute led to Chris Dobbie rounding the keeper and placing the ball into the empty net to give Herriard the lead. Sam Cato hit the bar before he made it 2-0 in the 42nd minute. Aldermaston improved in the second half and in the 51st minute Jayce Torrie beat keeper Dave Purt. As their confidence grew Aldermaston levelled the scores in the 65th minute. A long clearance from keeper Nocella fell to Andy Barfoot who raced through and beat Purt. It took Herriard just two minutes to regain their lead. Cato was brought down going through, a penalty kick resulted and Dobbie slammed it home for the winner.

Three players failed to turn up at Newfound for the Tron home game against TDI Group FC and this meant that Tron Manager Darren Hutchins had to play Ross Harwood in goal. His weakened side still came up with the goods as they won 6-0 against their young opponents. It was Hutchins who was brought down going through in the 8th minute that won the free kick which put Tron ahead. The foul brought a yellow card for Ryan Jones and Ben Nicholls scored from the resulting kick with a curler from 22 yards. Richard McCoubrie scored the second goal with a 30 yard shot. Stand in keeper Ross Harwood pulled off a very good save from Richard Budd just before the break. Two minutes into the second half came the third goal. Kevin Beaumont took an in swinging corner kick, the defenders were unable to clear of the line and the ball found its way over. Nicholls then scored again, this time with a lob and he completed his hat trick when Lorne Howard set him up. Nicholls went on to score his fourth after a decent cross from substitute Duncan Leahy. TDI Group manager Graham Jenkins, who came the closest to scoring, was far from despondent after this heavy defeat and said, most of our team are 16 year old and I felt we matched them at times. He certainly looks to have at least one prospect in youngster Charlie Coughlan, who performed well in midfield.
