Week Ending 11th January

The weather made it back to back wins, initially wiping out all but 2 of the proposed fixtures, including those on 3G’s. Then the Aylestone Park v Leicester Athletico was called late due to fog.
That left the Everards2 division, Hinckley Borough v Leicester United fixture, moved to the Hinckley Rugby Club 3G, as the lone fixture to be played. United have not had the best of starts to their Senior League journey and currently sit bottom of the division without a solitary point after 15 starts.
Hinckley had not won in their previous 8 starts and had slipped from a healthy top 4 position into the bottom half of the table. The 13-3 victory restored their goal difference but did not improve their table position. however the gap to the lower 4 positions was increased to 9 points.
Despite the final score line Hinckley did not have it all their own way as United turned round 3-2 down. Acer Szilak broke the deadlock for Hinckley, scoring after 25 minutes and finished with 4 of the best added to by Harry Jarvis(2), Kai Abrahams, Cameron Faxon, Connor Kiely, Harry Taylor, and off the bench Ben Wilson with a brace and Cain Heath. United replied through Corie Moore(2) and Martin Baugh.
There were also a couple of County Cups games that were postponed today and they are to be re-arranged.
Leicester Athletico fell just short in midweek in their Senior Cup Semi Final at Birstall Utd, the step 6 unit scoring a goal in each half to win 2-0. Athletic missing a penalty at 1-0.
