For whatever reason there was only a small fixture list on Sunday.
Games get called off for all sorts of reasons but we definitely had a first in my experience on Sunday when the game between Cross Keys FC and Friendship FC was unable to be played after a load of topsoil had been dropped on to the pitch for reasons which I have no idea, explanations will be sought.
Just the one game in Division 1 and Hilltop Raptors continue to show excellent early season form and a 7 goals to 2 win at Rose & Crown was a very impressive display of attacking football against opponents who are always difficult to defeat on their own ground. Although they have played more games than most teams in the Division Hilltop are deserving leaders of the Division at this early point in the season.
In Division 2 there was excellent wins for M U S C, Retford Sunday FC and Walkeringham FC. M U S C seem to have improved greatly as a team this season and a resounding 6 goals to 1 home win against a rather disappointing Westwoodside FC was another display that showed just how much M U S C have improved this season and they look sure to be a force in this Division this season. Retford Sunday FC had their 1st win of the season against a luckless Blue Bell Rangers winning by 8 goals to 1. What looks to be a very decent squad of players in the Retford Sunday FC Club at last showed what they can be capable of. Walkeringham FC made the short journey to Gringley to take on an inform Gringley Celtics and in a very tight game it was Walkeringham FC who took the spoils after a 2 goals to 1 victory. Both teams will be very competitive in this ultra competitive Division.
In Division 3 Babworth Rovers Blue maintained their 100% start to the season and now sit 2nd in the table behind early season leaders Elm Cottage. Babworth Rovers Blue have a very talented squad of young players and they always had far too much attacking ability for a gallant but ultimately well beaten Otter FC the 9 goals to 2 score telling its own story. Canutes FC and Kings Arms Haxey FC Reserves had a real end to end game in which many chances were created by both teams, Canutes eventually winning by 6 goals to 3 in a very Enterating game congratulations to both..
