It was in the sixth minute of added time when Hungerford substitute Harry Goodger came up with the equalizer to force extra time against the gallant underdogs Alton Town who were leading 2-1 and in the extra time the Southern League club won the Basingstoke Senior Cup with a 4-3 victory.
Luke Perkins, the young Alton Town striker, won the Man of the Match award after scoring all three goals for his team, the first coming in the 43rd minute after they trailed when Matt Day gave Hungerford the expected lead.
Perkins then again in the 66th and his team looked to have the cup won until the late equalizer forced extra time goals when goals from Alan O’Brien, formerly with Swindon Town, and Mark Draycott gave them a 4-2 interval lead.. Although Perkins completed his hat trick, Hungerford held their lead to take the cup for the second time.
