(05-Oct-13) vs Hart Dynamos (H) 2-0:

Following the disappointment of losing to Fleet Spurs the previous week, the Harriers faced another stern test when they played host to league leaders, Hart Dynamos FC. Hart Dynamos came into the game full of confidence having won all four of their opening league encounters, but the Harriers were in a determined mood.
There was little between the teams in the opening exchanges but as the game wore on the Harriers grew in confidence, competing for every ball and not allowing a very good Hart Dynamos any time to settle.
The breakthrough came on 17 minutes. When Oscar’s goal kick was inadvertently handled by Hart Dynamos centre half, there seemed little danger when Noah lined up to take the free-kick. Having already gone close moments early from a similar distance the midfielder made no mistake arrowing his shot over the wall and leaving the keeper rooted to the spot. It was no more than the boys deserved for their incredible work rate. The second goal was somewhat less impressive but just as critical. A goal mouth scramble saw 3 or 4 Harriers attempt to score and when the ball broke to Joe G the combative midfielder made no mistake, slamming the ball past the Hart Dynamos keeper.
The second half saw few clear cut chances for either side, although Charlie B was unfortunate following a fine solo run. Max ST deservedly won the MoM award but this was a fantastic team effort, in which every player performed brilliantly. Special mention for Rowan and Euan who both performed excellently when asked to play in an unfamiliar centre forward position. And to keep a clean sheet against the league leaders was testament to great defensive performance by Oscar, Ollie, Max and Charlie M looked absolutely solid.
