Jack Frost attacks pitches before snow causes the KO punch.
After a week of freezing temperatures, things started to look a bit better on Saturday. That was until the snow started to fall, causing many games to be called off come Sunday morning.
A handful of games did survive though and in NDSFL PREMIER LEAGUE, Ambleside picked up a much needed win as they beat Witherley United 4-0 thanks to a Dave Ison hat-trick and Liam Elliot single.
Goals from Nick Richardson and Matt Mangiante secured Ashby Road Sports a 2-0 win over Crows Nest Sports in MARK BLAIR LEAGUE TWO.
The snow wasn’t going to spoil the day for Saunders Hall as they won 7-3 over Swan Dive to go into the top three. Liam Dean, Ashley Clark and Kiel Mullen all scored braces with Dan Marston adding the single. Bryn Cove scored 2 and Ashley Gilder the other for Swan Dive.
Witherley United Res edged out Travs in a close encounter that ended 4-3. Charlie Gilks, Bobby Gould, Terry Moore and Ricky Luke with the goals for Witherley. Ben Court, Ben Johnson and Michaël Hutchinson hit the Travs replies.
Sam Spencer’s brace and goals from Dan Trezise, Andrew Simpson and Ben Whittaker were the difference for Phoenix United as they picked up a 5-0 win over Sunnyside.
In NUNEATON TROPHIES LEAGUE THREE, leaders Newdigate United slipped to a 5-1 defeat to Bedworth Bank. Zak Bhara’s hat-trick and singles from Joe Brown and Kye Smith with the Bank goals. Tom Noon’s penalty for Newdigate turning out to be only a consolation.
Benjamin Hastie scored twice as Attleborough Sports picked up a 5-1 win over Anchor Inn (Hartshill), Martyn Betteridge, Arron Johnson and Jay Locking completed the scoring for Sports.
There were wins in County Cup action for Wykin Social, Barwell Cricketers, Bermuda Park and Hinckley Wanderers.
