A Division cup holders Ellison took the first step to retaining the trophy with a comfortable 6-1 victory against Top Club. Ellison raced into a 4-0 first half lead with goals from Stuart Lane, Peter Leithhead, Shaun Green and Craig Snowball. The half time score line could have been much closer had Top Club taken any of the 4 excellent chances, which they created but failed to score on each occasion. After the break Barry Elstob did reply for the Top club only for Stuart Lane to add 2 more to complete his hat trick and see Ellison through to the next round.

In the Premier league cup Whiteleas kept up their 100% start to the season with a hard fought 2-0 victory over Elmfield SC. The Hebburn lads, for whom Craig Armstrong was outstanding at the heart of the defence, pushed them all the way but goals from Lee Adamson and James Roberts saw Leas safely home.

In an even tighter game Nook Utd progressed to the second round with a single goal victory over Brighams for whom Mark Williams and Michael Meeks were shown red cards. Mick Armstrong got Nooks winner and was also nominated as star man, while Andrew Whalley picked up the star rating for Brighams.

On the league front new boys Kirkpatricks Allstars went top of the B division with a fine 5-3 victory over The Bridge who themselves have made a very confident start to the season. Kirkpatricks started the game by totally dominating for the opening 20 minutes and were rewarded when Ian Jackson finished a sweeping move to volley home. This gave the Bridge a wake up call and they equalised through Robert Robinson and then took the lead just before half time when Mark Pearce was judged to handle and Stephen Howes fired home from the spot. Kirkpatricks rallied after the break and equalised through Paul Robinson who then added his second after a bad clearance from the Bridge keeper landed at his feet and with one touch he found the net. Ian Jackson then added his second to make it 4-2, only for the Bridge to pull one back from the restart through Phillip Ormande after some sloppy defending. Star Man Jackson then completed his hat-trick to rap up the win.
