Stapenhill repair last weeks damage.
The damage done to Stapenhill?s leadership, caused over the last week by defeat at home to Highfield Rangers and a mid week goal less draw at Birstall Utd was repaired when the Stags came away from 3rd placed Ibstock Utd as winners, and 2nd placed Thurnby Rangers went down at Holwell Sports. Stephan Marshall gave the Stags an half time lead at Ibstock and Jon Jenkinson completed the jig saw when he converted an 89th minute penalty, against his former club, for a 0-2 score line that improves the buffer to 15 points.
Thurnby have 4 games in hand but have played Stapenhill twice and must rely on others to assist their title bid, which was given a considerable knock with defeat at Holwell. The Sports have won 7 out of the last 9 starts and were propelled into the top 6 when Graham Keast converted an 88th minute penalty to give Holwell a 2-1 victory.
Doubles for Andy Almond and Carl Adams gave Barrow Town a comfortable 4-1 victory over Bardon Hill Sports and a couple from Matt Shuter was not enough to prevent Ratby Sports staying in the bottom 2 as they went down 3-2 at Kirby Muxloe who consolidated 5th spot.
Birstall Utd moved to head the mid section with a 4-1 defeat of Anstey Nomads, after Lewis Dodd added a couple to take his season?s tally into double figures, and Ellistown and St Andrews fought out a 0-0 draw. In the bottom section Aylestone Park gave their escape team a boost with a 1-3 away win, in the 6 pointer at Highfield Rangers, after Marc Asman-2 and Nick Loach gave them a 0-3 half time lead.
Bottom placed Rothley Imps posted their 1st win since October with a 3-1 defeat of Blaby Whetstone after Owen Martin -2 and Kev Dilley remembered where the net was.
