On the last Sunday before the Christmas break all scheduled fixtures were played
The 2 outstanding Trinity Trophy Quarter Finals were played on Sunday and if there was ever going to be a lower Division team defeating a Division 1 team it was going to be Kings Arms Clarborough BAFC defeating Rose & Crown FC. The game was always a close fought affair and the taking of the chances that came your way proved to be decisive with Kings Arms winning by 2 goals to nil to set up an intriguing Semi Final against FC Tickhill who are currently unbeaten in any game in the League this season, a tie to be not Missed..
Friendship FC were always likely to be far too strong for AFC Moorgate and clinical finishing set up an 8 goals to 2 victory that sets up a Semi Final against Kings Arms Haxey FC. Moorgate did not let themselves down in this game but were just defeated by the stronger team.
Just 1 game in Division 1 and FC Tickhill made it 5 wins from 5 League games defeating a White Lion FC team that is finding life difficult at present in the top Division. FC Tickhill are certainly a threat to any team and the 4 goals to nil win takes them into the Christmas break in a very strong position.
The 2nd Division game between Retford rivals Bridon AFC and Retford Sunday was as close as the 2 goals to 1 score might suggest with Retford Sunday just edging the game, both teams giving their all and probably both deserving of something from the tightest og games.
In Division 3 Babworth Rovers Blue now sit top of this Division after defeating a gallant but in the end a well beaten Otter FC. The 7 goals to 3 score would suggest a very open contest with plenty of goal mouth action. Bridon AFC Reserves defeated Thonnock Rangers by 3 goals to 1 in a very close game where again the taking your goal scoring chances meant a victory by Bridon that might have been unexpected but was very well merited.
On behalf of the Management Committee I would like to take this opportunity to wish all Clubs their players, officials and fans a Very Happy Christmas and a sporting New Year. We will welcome you all back starting on Sunday January 5th.
