The early morning snow led to just five of the matches being played today.
Two of the Division One matches went ahead and the leaders Overton United A dropped two points at home to Twentyten, the 1-1 draw being a good result for the visitors. It is Danny Smiths side who remain nine points clear of their nearest rivals DJS Telecoms, Hampshire Irons, both on 16 points. Overton found their opponents much better than when they last met in September and won 6-1. It was Twentyten who went ahead in the 30th minute when over came a cross from the right from Joe Osborne and a glancing header from Joe Hill was too good for the keeper. It was right on half time when Overton drew level. A mistake at the back was seized by Matt Wilson who found Nathan Bennett and his lob was too good for keeper Jack Nicholson. Overton perhaps had the better of the second half, but real chances for either side were rare and a draw was just about the right result. DJS Telecoms move into second spot on goal difference after beating Hook Reserves 4-1 at Silchester where the lines were cleared of snow by groundsman Paul Evans, who started preparing the pitch at 7 am. Danny Dedman gave DJS the lead from a George Lagden cross, but their keeper Chris Hobson, having a rare game between the sticks, pulled off three saves before the second came in the 44th minute, Lagden beating Tony Foster, back in the Hook goal this week. It was in the 58th minute when Hook pulled a goal back. The shot by Jack McKee was blocked; it fell to David Mohammed who headed past Hobson. Lagden beat the offside trap to make it 3-1, but only a goal line clearance stopped Mohammed scoring his second. DJS proved the stronger finishers and a break by Lee Neal led to Allan Morgan netting the fourth.
In Division Two Bounty United retain top spot after an easy 5-0 win against visitors AFC Aldermaston A, with goal ace Matt Love scoring all five, the second time this season he has netted five in a match and it takes his tally for the season to 29. His first came after ten minutes when a shot from Craig Williamson looked to be going wide and he managed to divert it past the keeper. The second in the 16th was hit much to hard for the keeper to save and his header at the back post from a corner gave them a 3-0 interval lead. Williamson went on a strong run and centered for Love to have an easy tap in and the pick of the five came in the 68th minute when from a 25 yards out, he headed the ball down and scored with a superb overhead kick that looped over the helpless keeper. Basingstoke Athletic could only draw 3-3 with Basingstoke United, only the second time they have failed to take maximum points and their equalizer only came two minutes from time.. Tobie Hyde gave them a 3rd minute lead from 18 yards out and although they had numerous chances in the first half, it was United who leveled in the 35th when Jamie Lucas put away a Dan Southgate pass and two minutes into the second half United went in front, Tom Hartley scoring with a 25 yard free kick. In the 75th minute Ryan Evans equalized from a Hyde pass and only a fine save with his feet by keeper James Sallows stopped them taking the lead. It was however United who were to score with four minutes left. Tom Hartley with another fine free kick hit the bar; it rebounded kindly for Jay Stephens to head home from the rebound. There was just two minutes left on the clock when Athletic came up with an equalizer. Dale Bristow played a neat one two with Evans and his strike deflected in off a defender past the stranded Sallows. The only other game was also played Brighton Hill where the unbeaten Winklebury Wizards swept into a three goal lead against Preston Candover and ended up 5-3 winners. A defence splitting pass from Hugo Carlos found Ryan Watts who played Ben Clark through for the opener after ten minutes. Carlos then converted a penalty kick after Robson Pereira was fouled in the box and Clark headed the third from a Matt Lowe cross by the 22nd minute. Preston came back strongly with a penalty taken by Dan Trump after Joe Tomlinson was brought down and a free kick ended with a Mark Oram volley. A harsh looking penalty for hand ball was put away by Carlos early in the second half and on the hour Clark completed his hat trick with a long shot. In a late rally Richard Spiers hit the post for Preston and Oram netted his second in the last minute.
