Helsby boast the only unbeaten record in Division 1 after putting paid to West Kirbys 100% tally courtesy of a 3-2 triumph at Marine Park. Kevin Patterson, Darren Moore and Adam Hunter were the men doing the damage for the visitors as Lee Gibson and Dave Forbes responded for Kirby. Maghull remain among the early leaders after easing to a 4-0 home success over Christleton with Sam Wilkie, 2, Matty Poulson and Lee Keenan registering. Their was also home joy for Marshalls who had Sean Robinson and James Nilson obliging as they edged out Vauxhall Reserves who grabbed a consolation through Ali Adgari. David Swaine was again on the mark for Heswall who also had Jack Forde and Owen Davies netting as they saw off a Willaston outfit unable to muster a reply. Cammell Laird Reserves still seek the seasons 1st maximum and although Alex Bishop posted for them at Ellesmere Port Brett Fitzsimmons and Steve Bilko steered Port to a 2-1 victory. Steve Finlay was Upton AAs hero as he bagged both their goals in the 2-0 eclipse of visiting Marine Reserves while Chris Pardoe also registered a brace for Southport Trinity [Phil Frankland] who won by the odd goal in 5 at table trailers Blacon YC [John Bedford, Danny Davies].
There are new leaders in Division 2 where Chester Nomads bid to finish at least one place higher than last seasons 3rd spot. In midweek Mark Crossen and Mike Jeffs were on the mark in the 2-1 defeat of hosts Bronze Social [James Harris] and Andy Fitzgibbon joined Jeffs in obliging in Saturdays 2-0 victory at Hale. On Monday erstwhile leaders Ashville fell to their 1st defeat at Beb Athletic who took an early lead through a Graham Carvell penalty which was added to by Tom Byrne in the 2nd half. New Brighton [Paul Howells, 2, Perry Black, Thomas Carroll] got back to winning ways when overcoming hosts Richmond Raith Rovers [David Allen] while Capenhurst Villa [Graeme Davidson, 2, Stuart Bailey, Steve Morgan] enjoyed a 4-0 away day success at Prescott Cable Reserves. Mallaby [Aaron Bird, Paul Doolan, Mark Brady, Paul Gibbons] feature in the top 3 thanks to an exciting 4-3 victory at West Kirby Reserves [Adam Lea,2, John Johnson] on Monday. At the weekend though they fell foul of resurgent Beb Athletic who grabbed a 3-0 Wirral Amateur cup victory which was spearheaded by a Sean Heggarty brace.
Lewis Hough was a double marksman as Manor Athletic maintained their position at the top of Division 3 thanks to a 3-1 midweek win over Mersey Royal. The Bromborough side completed an excellent week by overcoming Division 2 outfit Maghull Reserves after a penalty shoot out in the Wirral Amateur cup. Holding second spot are Runcorn Linnets Reserves who just got the better of Christleton Reserves in a 9 goal thriller while on the same number of points are Helsby Reserves who had Ian Cox and Wes Huizer as 2 goal men in the 6-1 thrashing of Merseyside Police.
A REMYCA own goal was enough to send opponents Hale to the top of the Youth Division where Belfry [Sam Ennis,2, Steve Gale,2, Ryan Fossard, Lee Brennan, Paul Taylor] were the biggest scorers of the day in the 7-0 mauling of Runcorn Town.
