WEEKLY ROUND UP.
Game of the day in the Redditch & South Warwickshire Combination lived up to its pre-match billing as the early season front runners in Division 1 played out an enthralling 3-3 draw. SHTP took an early lead against Alvechurch Sunday but then had to twice come from behind, including a late equaliser, as both sides agreed that a draw was a fair result. John Manison scored twice, as Dagnell End Rovers start the season with two wins from two games, with a 5-1 victory over Lodge Park. Rocklands recorded their first win of the season, beating Alcester Town 2-0.
Match winner Richard Sullivan hit the goal trail as OKH Sporting Dynamo won 2-0 at home to New Woodland Cottage. Jamie Wright took his season total to eight goals as Winyates Wanderers saw off the challenge of Frankley Athletic 5-2. A battling performance saw Queens Head come from behind to beat Sporting Club Redditch 2-1. Rubery Legends are celebrating their maiden Redditch League Victory beating VKL 3-1.
In the Premier Division, Andy Nicol’s two goals in a 3-0 victory over Translift Bendi, as Austin Ex Apprentices start the season with a 100% record, a Sam Smith also scored twice as South Redditch beat Wychbold RBL 5-1 and Fairfield GLaC secured their first point of the season after a 2-2 draw at home to Hizza United.
This coming Sunday sees the start of the early Cup rounds with Rocklands entertaining Church Hill in the BRT Terry Cup at Greenlands.
