To all referees--please action immediately

‘In light of 2 recent events when match officials became ill or incapacitated. Clubs were unable to contact the family of the referee as they had no contact details.
We would ask all referees do adopt the following procedure.

In the back of every referee’s match record book please write ICE (In Case of Emergency) and a contact number of who the referee would like to contact. We also advise that you have the same information in your referee box in the changing room and set up as a contact in your mobile phones. It will also be a good idea to list any underlying medical issues if appropriate!

We hope that you will never have to call upon the details but in light or the recent incidents I am sure that you will all agree this information is vital at times.’
