Overview of the action from the Week 4 of NTU's 5-a-side BUNDESLIGA
Week 4 of the BUNDESLIGA saw the development of a league which shows no signs of providing early indicators as to which team will emerge victorious at the end of the season.
The days fixtures began with Shelvey Style getting back to winning ways with a 6-2 victory against Gordon House Massive, leaving them in 5th place and Gordon House as the only teams still looking for a win since the season started. Sandby FC featured in both the second and third games of the day.
The 1.30 kick off had originally been scheduled to feature Cunning Stunts against Muay Thai Fighters. However, Cunning Stunts were unable to fulfill the fixture and Sandby stepped in so as to get their unplayable fixture from Week 3 resolved. This turned out to be a good move on their part as they came back from 1-0 down with five minutes to go to win 3-1 against Muay Thai, before scoring a last minute equalizer in their 2.00 game against Mill House. The upshot of these two results was that Sandby moved up to third in the table and remain unbeaten this season.
The 2.30 game saw the introduction of a new team in the shape of CC Cosmos, who stepped in to take the place of the now defunct Tripod FC. Their debut game saw them pick up an impressive 3-2 win over Average Joe's 5's and move up into the top half of the table.
3.00 saw the much anticipated meeting of the top two sides at the end of Week 3, as Goldsmiths and Exeter Gently faced off. In a closely fought game the score finished at 1-1, with Exeter rightly having a last minute winner ruled out after the goalposts were unintentionally moved from their place on the line. The result meant that both teams stayed in their positions as the top two at the end of their game.
The draw between Exeter and Goldsmiths meant that Two Balls Are Not Enough went into the 3.30 game with a chance to move top of the league. However, they came up against a LEX FC side clearly benefiting from their reading week break, with LEX eventually running out 9-4 winners and moving up to 4th in the table, just a point of the lead.
At the end of week four Exeter Gently continue to lead the way along with Goldsmiths, but they have now been joined at the top of the table by Sandby FC and just 3 points covers the top eight teams. Week 5 sees Two Balls Are Not Enough play Average Joe's at 1.00 with both teams looking to get back to winning ways.
