Ramble Round the County Cup

Everards Teams in the County Cup for week ending 6th January

The Senior League had mixed fortunes in the County Cup competitions with Div1 leaders Anstey Town paving the way with a 1-3 away win at Glenfield Town in the Intermediate Shield. Goals from Josh O’Brien, Jordan Small and Joe Hartopp turned a 0-1 half time advantage into victory. Jamie Maher netted the lone Glenfield consolation.
Else where Diawara Ouakari gave Leicester Athletico an early league over FCV Grace Dieu , the current second placed club in the Notts Senior League Div1. However, FCV, stayed in touch and were rewarded with a late penalty for a hand ball that was converted by Harrison Holland. The game went to penalties which FCV won 2-3.
Sutton Bonington suffered defeat at County League Premier division Community Football Academy after 2nd half goals from Jaseem Khamkar and sub Mohamed Mahir granted CFA progress to the next round 2-0.
In the Saturday Trophy all Senior League tie Loughborough Students Development were faced up with Sileby Town Res, 1 of only 2 sides to take points off the students this season. The students led 1-0 at half time and a surprise was possibly on the cards. But despite a Newby goal for SIleby just before the hour, Lougborough found the way to run out 8-1 victors with goals from Owen James (2), Henry Hazell 2, Dylan Hacon, Callum Hamilton, Alfie Heaton and Idir Kermoud
