Ramble Round the Everards Premier

Week ending 7th October by Mason Norton

In the Everards Brewery Premier Division, Allexton & New Parks took over at the top of the table and stole a march on everyone this Saturday. They strolled to a 3-0 victory at home to FC Khalsa, Ryan Charles with a brace, before sub Kieran Gethins scored later on. Meanwhile, both of ANP's rivals lost this weekend. Ellistown had a bad day at the office and were thumped 4-1 by Aylestone Park Reserves, finishing the game with 10 men to boot, with Aaron Preston (2), Dan Henfrey and Leo Hicking the scorers for Park, sub Louis Rood providing Ellistown with a late consolation as Park strengthened their hold on fourth spot. Desford & Caterpillar, for their part, let slip a lead at home to Sileby Town, losing 3-2, with Callum Chetwynd, Dan Chetwynd and Conner Packwood scoring for Sileby, Connor McGahan and Mac Parnell for Desford.

At the other end of the table, Ashby Ivanhoe Knights stay bottom after completing one of the longest trips of the season, away to Cottesmore, and losing 5-1, Brenden Parker (2), Dale Miller, Ewan Simmons and Mark Tinsley scoring for the Rutland side, and Barrow Town remain in the drop zone with them after being thumped 9-3 at Burbage & Huncote, Cameron Atkinson (4), Liam Pescott (3) and Tom Mason (2) scoring for Burbage. Friar Lane & Epworth moved away from the edges of the bottom two after defeating Thurnby Rangers 4-3. A pulsating first half finished 3-3, Gaz Warren opening the scoring for FLAE, along with Kieron Smith and Christian Smith for the Lane, whilst Austin Enekwe (2) and Farran Pope scored for Thurnby. The scores stayed level until 10 minutes, when Warren scored his second to give Lane the points.

Highfield Rangers also put a bit of distance between themselves and the bottom, bringing their recent poor run of form to an end with a 3-1 win at home to Magna 73, Liam Bloxham, Elie Oliver and Seon Shippley scoring for Rangers, Matt Richmond for Magna, whilst in mid-table, Hathern and AFC North Kilworth faced each other for the first time, NK travelling practically the full length of the county to get there. It was spoils shared, 2-2, Tom Insley and Liam Walton scoring for Hathern, Grantas Gricius (2) for NK.
