Midweek ending 23rd March by Mason Norton

There were two games played in midweek this week, both in the quarter-finals of the Chairman's Trophy. On Tuesday night, Loughborough Students Development cruised to a 5-1 win at home to Leicester Atletico, with Owain Edwards, Adam Wallis and Aled Willan, along with a brace from sub Ashden Shortland, scoring for the hosts, who went in 2-0 up at half-time, the Atletico scorer not yet in. Meanwhile, Wednesday night saw Hinckley LR Reserves also win 5-1 at home, against St Patricks. Their tie was a bit closer, with Road only one goal up at the break, but they kicked away in the second half scoring three times without reply after the turnround. Brogan Greenwood scored a hat-trick for the hosts, Chris Jones and Ben Martin also on the scoresheet, with Jamie Bottomley scoring for St Patricks in the first period.

The other two ties will follow in due course, with Rothley Imperial welcoming Sileby Town Reserves on Easter Saturday and Holwell Sports Reserves at home to Ingles Development on Tuesday 9 April.

The League's Management Committee met in the week, and confirmed that Sutton Bonington have been awarded a walkover after their game at home to Kirby Muxloe Reserves was postponed when Kirby were unable to raise a side on 9 March. That moves SB up a place, and virtually condemns bottom side Barrow Town Reserves to relegation, barring a miraculous turnround in goal difference. Kirby's season now comes to an end, with them likely to finish somewhere in the mid-table spots- they are currently in fourth.

Finally, a reminder to clubs that the deadline for registrations and transfers is 31 March, Easter Sunday- any seven days notice for transfers must be given by 24 March, which is this Sunday, unless the notice period is to be waived.

Ramble Round will be back on Sunday with the best of the weekend action. See you then.
